The Impact of the COVID-19 Health Pandemic and The Russian-Ukrainian Crisis on Egypt’s Financial Market Performance and Hedging Methods

The current study aims to analyze the impact of global economic crises, such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, on the performance of the stock market in Egypt. Additionally, it examines hedging Methods, early warning systems, and the monetary and fiscal policies implemented to address these crises. The study found that the crises had varying effects on the Egyptian stock market. The pandemic caused a sharp decline in 2020, while the Russian-Ukrainian crisis had a more pronounced impact on commodity and energy prices. However, volatility persisted due to ongoing economic instability. The importance of hedging policies and risk management has increased, particularly in light of new threats such as the planned exchange rate liberalization in 2024 and the events in Gaza. The research concludes that global crises significantly affect emerging markets like Egypt, necessitating innovative financial strategies to mitigate risks and ensure sustainable financing.
