Islamic University of Minnesota Emphasizes Importance of Regular Lectures

Dr. Omar Ahmed Al-Maqrami, Vice President of the Islamic University of Minnesota and Head of the Main Center, has emphasized the importance of adhering to approved lecture schedules, stressing that regularity in the educational process is a fundamental pillar for the success of the academic semester and the achievement of educational objectives. He called upon faculty members to minimize lecture postponements whenever possible, given their direct impact on the quality of teaching performance and academic progress.

Dr. Al-Maqrami explained that lecture postponement should be considered an exceptional measure and should only be implemented after all possible alternatives for delivering the lecture on its scheduled date have been exhausted. He noted that when postponement becomes unavoidable and is confirmed by the faculty member, the College Secretary is responsible for processing the postponement request through the University's electronic portal in accordance with the approved procedures.

He further explained that the electronic portal ensures that postponement procedures are carried out in an organized and immediate manner. Once a lecture is postponed, its status is automatically updated in the academic schedules of both faculty members and students. In addition, email notifications are sent to the enrolled students, the course instructor, and the department head, ensuring that all concerned parties are informed of the change in a timely manner.

The Vice President pointed out that the impact of lecture postponements extends beyond administrative and organizational aspects, affecting academic performance indicators and adherence to the approved study plan. He noted that frequent postponements may negatively influence course progress and academic discipline at both department and college levels, requiring greater commitment to the approved lecture schedule.

Dr. Omar Al-Maqrami called on all faculty members across the University's colleges and departments to cooperate in achieving the highest levels of academic regularity and reaching a zero-postponement rate for lectures. He emphasized that reducing postponements contributes to timely course completion, improves the efficiency of the educational process, and creates a more stable and disciplined academic environment.
