Islamic University Welcomes Students and Faculty Members
Under the patronage of Dr. Omar Ahmed Al-Maqrami, Vice President of the University and President of the Main Center, the Islamic University of Minnesota - Main Center hosted a welcome ceremony on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, to receive students and welcome faculty members on the occasion of the opening of the first semester of the 2026/2027 academic year. The event was attended by the University's leadership, faculty members, and administrative staff, reflecting a spirit of enthusiasm and readiness for the new academic year.
The ceremony commenced with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an by Arafat Ba Issa, followed by the University's welcoming address delivered by Dr. Zainab Ali Basyouni, Vice President of the University. She warmly welcomed both students and faculty members, reaffirming the University's commitment to providing a dynamic academic environment, enhancing the quality of teaching and learning, and continuously developing its academic and administrative services to support students throughout their educational journey.
The program also featured an introductory presentation highlighting the University's history, academic programs, major achievements, and strategic vision for strengthening its position among higher education institutions at the local, regional, and international levels.
The ceremony included a series of informative presentations that introduced students to the University's academic philosophy and student support services. Dr. Osama Abdulrahman, Dean of Academic Affairs, outlined the University's educational philosophy and its commitment to preparing highly qualified graduates through academic excellence and quality education. Dr. Jumanah Al-Khurashi, Director of the Educational Affairs Unit, presented an overview of the academic support services and student follow-up mechanisms provided throughout the semester. Meanwhile, Dr. Sulaiman Maqbool, Director of the Undergraduate Student Affairs Unit, introduced the comprehensive range of academic and administrative services offered by the Deanship of Student Affairs to ensure a successful and enriching university experience.
The ceremony concluded with an open discussion session during which the University's leadership, faculty members, and administrative staff responded to students' questions and inquiries. The session aimed to strengthen communication, foster mutual trust, and prepare students for a confident and successful start to the new academic year while reinforcing the University's partnership with its students from the very beginning of their academic journey.
