Dr. Zainab Ali Basyouni, Vice President of the Islamic University of Minnesota - Main Center, affirmed that students are the central focus of the University's educational mission and the driving force behind its strategic development plans. She emphasized that the University remains committed to continuously enhancing its academic, administrative, and technological services to provide a comprehensive learning experience that meets students' aspirations and strengthens the quality of its educational outcomes.
Dr. Basyouni made these remarks while delivering a speech on behalf of the University administration during the Student Reception and Faculty Welcome Ceremony, organized to mark the beginning of the first semester of the 2026/2027 academic year. The event was attended by University leadership, faculty and administrative staff, as well as a large gathering of students.
She noted that the University regards its students as genuine partners in its journey toward excellence and success. Accordingly, all institutional development efforts-including regular administrative meetings, system enhancements, procedural reviews, and service improvements-are primarily designed to enrich the student academic experience and provide a supportive learning environment that meets their needs and aspirations.
Dr. Basyouni further explained that the University embraces a culture of continuous improvement and institutional excellence, recognizing that academic quality requires ongoing evaluation, innovation, and performance enhancement. She highlighted that the past period witnessed the implementation of several development initiatives across academic, administrative, and technological sectors, while additional projects are currently underway to further improve institutional performance and the quality of services provided.
She stressed that the University's success is measured not only by the number of its academic programs or enrolled students, but also by its ability to graduate individuals equipped with sound knowledge, practical skills, and self-confidence, enabling them to make meaningful contributions to their communities and the wider Muslim Ummah.
She also reaffirmed the University's commitment to maintaining open channels of communication with its students, emphasizing that their feedback and suggestions are highly valued and considered an essential component of the University's continuous development efforts. She noted that dialogue, partnership, and mutual trust between the administration and students are fundamental pillars of institutional success.
During her address, Dr. Basyouni highlighted the University's diverse academic and scientific resources, referring to its wide range of colleges and academic programs, in addition to the support services offered through the Minnesota Education and Development Platform, the Digital Library, and several specialized research and academic centers that promote scientific research, professional development, and educational excellence.
She concluded her speech by affirming that the University's recent achievements represent the beginning of a new phase of growth and innovation. She encouraged students to make the most of their university years by pursuing knowledge, developing their skills, and striving for excellence, while actively contributing to the University's academic mission and future success.
