Expanded Meeting at Department of Personal Status and Family Law
As part of ongoing efforts to enhance academic performance and improve the quality of the educational process, the Head of the Department of Personal Status and Family Law at the College of Sharia and Law, Islamic University of Minnesota - Main Center, Dr. Ehab Tal'at, held an expanded meeting with faculty members of the department. The meeting was dedicated to discussing academic and administrative matters, as well as reviewing preparations for the upcoming summer examinations.
The meeting, held on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, addressed the importance of intensifying comprehensive academic review sessions for students. It also emphasized the necessity of faculty members’ presence and engagement during the examination period to provide the required academic support, thereby enhancing students’ academic achievement and contributing to outstanding results within a collective responsibility framework aimed at supporting students’ educational journey.
The participants also discussed ways to further develop the learning environment within the department, stressing the importance of strengthening positive interaction with students and establishing a “research room” dedicated to developing students’ research skills. In addition, they highlighted the adoption of modern teaching methods, including the use of presentations and the organization of preparatory lectures to simplify and reinforce academic concepts.
In line with future development perspectives, the meeting reviewed a number of qualitative initiatives aimed at strengthening the department’s academic presence. These included preparing a concise academic booklet addressing family-related issues, launching a specialized peer-reviewed academic journal, and organizing training courses and scientific conferences, including a proposed conference on Islamic banking transactions.
The meeting also proposed the establishment of a cultural forum dedicated to academic dialogue and exchange of perspectives, alongside exploring mechanisms for building academic partnerships with international universities to enhance knowledge exchange and strengthen the department’s academic standing. Furthermore, participants discussed the development of educational content and its dissemination through modern digital platforms, in line with the rapid transformations in contemporary education.
