Research Center Organizes Advanced Training Course
The Research and Studies Center at the Islamic University of Minnesota - Main Center organized an advanced practical training course on Tuesday evening, May 5, 2026, entitled: “Your Path to Professional Formatting on MS Word for Scientific Research.” The course was held as part of the Center’s ongoing efforts to enhance the academic and research skills of students, researchers, and faculty members.
The course was delivered by Dr. Bushra Sharif and moderated by Dr. Shaima'a Khattab. It lasted for two hours via the Zoom platform and witnessed notable participation from individuals interested in developing their skills in preparing and professionally formatting academic research papers.
The training aimed to strengthen participants’ proficiency in using Microsoft Word for the preparation and formatting of scientific research according to recognized academic standards. It also focused on improving essential computer skills and providing practical training on creating automatic tables of contents, organizing headings, preparing lists of tables and figures, and documenting references and citations in accordance with the APA style.
The course covered several key practical topics, including the fundamentals of scientific research writing, page setup and general formatting, the use of styles and automatic indexing tools, reference management and academic citation, insertion of tables and figures, as well as proofreading tools and the professional final presentation of research papers.
The Research and Studies Center affirmed that organizing this course reflects its continued commitment to supporting the academic research environment, developing scholarly competencies, and keeping pace with modern technologies that contribute to improving the quality of scientific research and academic outputs.
