Research Center Holds Workshop to Enhance Research Skills
The Research and Studies Center at the main center of the Islamic University of Minnesota organized a specialized workshop aimed at strengthening scientific research skills among computer science students. The workshop was held under the supervision of the Center’s Director, Dr. Shaimaa Khattab, and was titled “Skills for Preparing and Implementing Graduation Projects and Supplementary Research in Computer Science.”
The session was delivered by Dr. Bushra Sharif and targeted undergraduate and master’s students, as well as new supervisors and teaching assistants interested in developing their academic supervision methodologies.
The workshop covered several key themes, including an introductory foundation in scientific research, methods for selecting project topics and accurately formulating research problems, research methodologies and applied design, and techniques for writing academic reports in a rigorous manner. It also addressed research ethics and the quality assurance and evaluation standards applied to graduation projects.
The workshop, which was conducted via Zoom and broadcast on the Center’s social media platforms, witnessed notable engagement from participants. Its outcomes focused on empowering students to develop well-structured research proposals and improve the quality of their supplementary research, contributing to the enhancement of critical thinking skills and the adoption of sound research practices in the field of computer science.
This workshop comes as part of the Center’s ongoing efforts to keep pace with rapid technological advancements and to support the quality of educational and research outputs in line with modern academic standards.
