College of Educational Sciences Discusses Research on Psychological Resilience

The College of Educational Sciences at the Islamic University of Minnesota - Main Center hosted an academic seminar session on Saturday evening, May 9, 2026, dedicated to discussing the research proposal submitted by researcher Maryam Anas Abdulqader Mohammed, a PhD student in the Department of Family Counseling. The proposal was entitled: “Psychological Resilience and Its Relationship to Self-Confidence Among a Sample of Secondary School Students in the State of Kuwait.”

The seminar was organized by the Deanship of Graduate Studies via the Zoom platform as part of the college’s efforts to support educational and psychological studies addressing issues related to youth and students, while promoting scientific research connected to mental health and personal adjustment among secondary school students.

The research proposal focused on examining the relationship between psychological resilience and self-confidence among secondary school students in Kuwait, highlighting the psychological and educational dimensions associated with students’ ability to adapt to various pressures and challenges, and the impact of this on personality development and psychological stability.

The seminar discussion committee was chaired by Dr. Laith Ibrahim Al-Zawahreh, Head of the Department of Family Counseling, and included Dr. Ahmed Al-Zawahreh, Dr. Farhan Lafi Al-Nuwairan, and Dr. Mohammed Dhaifallah Al-Qarni. The session featured an academic discussion addressing the methodological and intellectual aspects of the research proposal, in addition to a number of scholarly observations aimed at further developing the study and strengthening its anticipated scientific outcomes.
