Marketing Department Enhances Student Engagement

The Marketing Department at the College of Economics and Business Administration, Main Center of the Islamic University of Minnesota, organized an extensive interactive meeting bringing together its students across all academic levels, including undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs, as part of efforts to strengthen direct communication and foster an engaging learning environment.

The meeting was chaired by the Head of the Department, Dr. Khaled Basrida, and attended by the Vice Dean of the College, Dr. Manal Mohammed Mahmoud Adam, along with the Administrative Affairs Officer, Ms. Banan Saif. It aimed to reinforce academic relationships and activate effective communication within the virtual learning environment, in line with the university’s strategic vision since its establishment in 2006 to deliver education that blends authenticity with modernity.

The session included a comprehensive presentation of the approved academic systems, starting from the self-learning system, through regular attendance via live lectures delivered in standard Arabic, to postgraduate programs and their research requirements. It also highlighted the organization of the summer semester in terms of timelines and grade distribution mechanisms.

The department administration emphasized the importance of students’ commitment and responsibility, noting that students represent the true image of the discipline in the labor market, which requires consistent attendance and active participation to achieve academic excellence.

The meeting also addressed several key issues of interest to students, including the modernization of master’s curricula in alignment with global standards, degree accreditation, and the development of teaching methods through enhanced interaction and shorter lecture durations. In terms of professional guidance, the Head of the Department encouraged students to pursue professional certifications in marketing and to develop critical thinking skills. He also urged postgraduate students to utilize the college’s academic journal for publishing their research, noting that the department is considering organizing future meetings with industry experts to bridge the gap between theory and practice.

At the conclusion of the meeting, which was marked by a positive and collaborative atmosphere, the Vice Dean reaffirmed the college’s “open-door policy” to receive student suggestions and address challenges collaboratively. Meanwhile, the Head of the Department described the meeting as a student-centered platform aimed at overcoming obstacles and providing an innovative educational and research environment, praising students’ awareness and engagement as a reflection of the department’s academic stability and progress.
