Da'wah Center Organizes Lecture Series

As part of its mission to disseminate authentic Islamic knowledge, strengthen religious awareness, and foster spiritual development, the Da'wah Center at the Islamic University of Minnesota - Main Center, in collaboration with the Minnesota Education and Development Platform, organized a series of scholarly and faith-based lectures entitled "In the Shade of the First Ten Days of Dhul-Hijjah." The program coincided with the arrival of the blessed first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah 1447 AH and brought together distinguished scholars and faculty members, attracting broad participation from both within and outside the University through Zoom.

The series commenced with a lecture entitled "How Can the First Ten Days of Dhul-Hijjah Become a Turning Point in Your Life?", delivered by Dr. Shamssan Al-Jabi and moderated by Dr. Mohammed Mustafa Al-Shaqiri, Assistant Director of the Da'wah Center and Assistant Professor in the Department of Islamic Studies (English Program). The lecture highlighted the unique virtues and spiritual significance of the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah, while presenting practical guidance on making the most of this blessed season through worship, remembrance of Allah, and righteous deeds, with the aim of cultivating lasting spiritual and personal transformation.

The second session featured a lecture entitled "Contemporary Fiqh of Udhiyah: Islamic Rulings, Common Violations, and Eligibility of Beneficiaries," presented by Dr. Musa Mohammed Noor Al-Daw, Deputy Director of the University Research Center, and moderated by Dr. Najima Al-Ridwani, Assistant Professor in the Department of Islamic Studies (English Program). The lecture examined the Islamic legal rulings governing Udhiyah (sacrificial offering), including its legitimacy, conditions, and proper distribution to eligible recipients. It also addressed common mistakes and contemporary practices related to Udhiyah, explaining them in light of Islamic jurisprudence.

The program continued with a third lecture entitled "The Rulings of Hajj," delivered by Sheikh Othman Abkar Jameel and moderated by Dr. Mohammed Mustafa Al-Shaqiri. The lecture provided a comprehensive overview of Hajj, covering its significance, obligation, pillars, and conditions. It also explained the three forms of pilgrimage (Tamattua, Qiran, and Ifrad), the prohibitions of Ihram and their legal consequences, and presented a chronological guide to the rituals of Hajj from the 8th to the 13th of Dhul-Hijjah, helping participants gain a clear understanding of the pilgrimage rites according to the Prophetic tradition.

The lecture series concluded with "The Rulings of Eid and Udhiyah," presented by Dr. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Sumairi and moderated by Dr. Najima Al-Ridwani. The lecture discussed the Islamic rulings related to Eid al-Adha, including its virtues, etiquette, the Eid prayer and sermon, as well as the legal rulings governing Udhiyah, such as its conditions, timing, distribution, recommended practices, and other related jurisprudential matters, offering participants a balanced combination of scholarly foundations and practical application.

This lecture series reflects the Da'wah Center’s ongoing commitment to maximizing the spiritual opportunities presented by Islamic seasons through educational and outreach programs that combine sound Islamic scholarship with moral and spiritual guidance. It also demonstrates the University's dedication to leveraging modern educational technologies in delivering its academic and Da'wah mission to a wider audience, thereby promoting authentic Islamic knowledge, strengthening religious awareness, and reinforcing the values of moderation and balanced understanding of Islam.
