College of Educational Sciences Reviews Preparations for the New Academic Semester

The College of Educational Sciences at the Islamic University of Minnesota - Main Center - held its regular College Council meeting on Wednesday evening, June 3, 2026, under the chairmanship of the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Abdullah Abdul Nabi, with the participation of department heads, deputy department heads, and representatives of the administrative affairs office. The meeting was convened as part of the College’s ongoing efforts to advance academic work and enhance the quality of its educational and research programs.
At the outset of the meeting, Professor Dr. Abdullah Abdulnabi welcomed the Council members and expressed his appreciation for their continuous efforts and valuable contributions to supporting the College’s mission and academic progress. In a heartfelt gesture reflecting the spirit of collegiality and mutual respect within the College, he recalled praying for his colleagues while standing at Arafat during the Hajj pilgrimage and shared an image displaying the names of the Council members.
The meeting included a review of the University Textbook Project, one of the College’s key developmental initiatives. The Dean reaffirmed the College’s commitment to producing academically rigorous and professionally developed textbooks. In this context, Dr. Talaat Al-Dardir, Head of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, announced the forthcoming publication of the Department’s first academic textbook, underscoring the College’s dedication to strengthening scholarly production and enriching specialized academic content.
The Council also reviewed the College’s readiness for the upcoming academic semester. The Dean confirmed that all necessary academic preparations had been completed, including the finalization of course schedules, to ensure a well-organized and effective launch of the educational process and to provide an environment conducive to achieving the College’s academic objectives.
In addition, the meeting addressed several important academic and administrative matters, including the status of the College of Educational Sciences Journal. The Dean announced that publication of the journal would be temporarily suspended during the current phase. The Council also discussed the work of the Internal Promotion Committee and mechanisms for continuing its activities in coordination with the University Vice President, Dr. Omar Al-Maqrami, to ensure that academic promotion procedures are carried out in accordance with approved regulations.
As part of the College’s efforts to enhance its academic assessment system, Council members reviewed proposals concerning grading policies and evaluation mechanisms. Dr. Laith Al-Zawahrah and Dr. Doaa Qatanani presented several observations and recommendations aimed at improving academic procedures and strengthening monitoring and assessment processes, while emphasizing the importance of activating the role of the Internal Control Unit in reviewing and following up on academic proposals.
Dr. Norhan Salama noted that the College already has an Internal Control Officer, while the Dean assigned Associate Professor Dr. Ali Dawahdeh to prepare a study examining internal control systems implemented at Jordanian universities in order to benefit from successful experiences and best practices in this field.
The Council also discussed financial entitlements related to academic departments and graduate theses, as well as the mechanisms governing their disbursement. The session included several interventions and proposals, including recommendations presented by Associate Professor Dr. Hiba Abu Ayada. The discussion concluded with an agreement to develop a specialized survey on this matter, to be prepared by Dr. Norhan Salama, as a preliminary step toward submitting a comprehensive report to the University Vice President for review and appropriate action.

The meeting concluded in a positive atmosphere that reflected the commitment of the College’s leadership and Council members to continuing academic and administrative development, enhancing the quality of educational and research outcomes, supporting the College’s mission, serving students and the wider community, and contributing to the achievement of the University’s strategic objectives.
