Department of Arabic Holds Its First Meeting for the 2026/2027 Academic Year

The Department of Arabic Language at the University - Main Center - held its first meeting for the 2026/2027 academic year on the evening of June 11, 2026, under the chairmanship of Dr. Osama Abdulrahman and with the participation of faculty members. The meeting was part of the department’s early preparations for the start of the first semester and its ongoing efforts to advance academic and research development initiatives.

At the outset of the meeting, the Head of the Department welcomed the faculty members and expressed his appreciation for their contributions to strengthening the department’s academic standing and scholarly presence. He also welcomed the newly appointed faculty members, emphasizing that their addition would enrich the department’s academic environment and support its continued development.

The meeting addressed a number of academic and administrative matters related to preparations for the new semester. Participants approved the course schedules and confirmed the readiness of academic courses and student groups, while also reviewing plans to ensure the availability of course materials and university textbooks in accordance with the approved course specifications.

In the area of scholarly productivity, faculty members reviewed progress on the department’s university textbook project. It was announced that the first university-level textbook in Arabic grammar had been completed and submitted for academic review, reflecting the department’s commitment to developing specialized academic resources that support teaching and enrich students’ learning experiences.

The meeting also discussed the outcomes of the committee responsible for reviewing undergraduate course specifications. Several proposals were presented to update course content and enhance its alignment with academic quality and accreditation standards, thereby improving learning outcomes and strengthening the effectiveness of academic programs.

Dr. Osama Abdulrahman emphasized the importance of maintaining regular class schedules, enhancing communication and coordination among faculty members, and fostering a spirit of teamwork to ensure the continuity and quality of the educational process.

As part of its institutional development efforts, the department announced plans to restructure its departmental council in the coming period based on criteria of competence, initiative, and active contribution to academic and administrative development, with the aim of enhancing collective performance and supporting the department’s strategic objectives.

The meeting also reviewed plans for scientific and cultural activities to be implemented during the upcoming academic year. Participants stressed the importance of expanding seminars, academic forums, and knowledge-based programs, particularly the Creativity Forum, to further enrich the department’s intellectual and cultural environment.

In line with ongoing digital transformation efforts, faculty members discussed several initiatives related to the integration of artificial intelligence technologies into the educational process. Particular attention was given to a proposal to utilize NotebookLM in preparing instructional presentations and enhancing teaching methods, recognizing its potential to improve educational quality and modernize academic practices.

The meeting further emphasized the importance of continuous follow-up on graduate studies programs and research projects, as well as strengthening collaboration between supervisors and students to ensure the production of high-quality research that meets standards of academic excellence.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Dr. Osama Abdulrahman commended the outstanding efforts of Ms. Samira Al-Sagheer, Graduate Studies Coordinator of the Department, praising her dedication and professionalism in supporting both the department and graduate students.
