Minnesota Education and Development Platform Conducts Training Course
The Minnesota Education and Development Platform, in coordination with the Student Affairs Unit at the Islamic University of Minnesota - Main Center, conducted an exceptional training course titled “The Art of Smart and High-Quality University Major Selection” on Wednesday evening, April 29, 2026. The course aligns with the university’s efforts to support students and empower them to make informed academic decisions that contribute to building their professional futures on solid scientific foundations.
The course was delivered by Associate Professor Dr. Abeer Al-Sayed Ahmed, Associate Professor of Child Psychology and Head of the Early Childhood Department at Manar Al-Janoub College, a certified psychological counselor, and an internationally certified trainer (TOT). She presented a set of practical topics designed to help students choose their university majors based on a modern scientific perspective aligned with international standards.
The course addressed the application of the “International Compass” criteria in evaluating future academic specializations, the use of SWOT analysis in making informed academic decisions, and the development of a professional identity that goes beyond academic certification. It also covered strategies for dealing with psychological pressures related to changing academic paths, as well as methods for identifying the most suitable major based on students’ true interests and abilities.
The session was moderated by Dr. Fatima Al-Wahsh, who contributed to organizing the discussion and enriching the dialogue. The course witnessed significant engagement from participating students, who expressed strong interest in its practical content and eagerness to apply its tools in shaping their academic paths.
The course targeted male and female university students, as well as anyone seeking to choose their academic major consciously and away from randomness. It provided practical, research-based content grounded in the latest scientific principles, in addition to granting participants a certified attendance certificate to support their academic and professional journey.
The training was held via Zoom from 8:00 to 10:00 PM (Mecca time), in a distinctive training experience that reflects the university’s commitment to offering developmental programs that prepare students to make informed and strategic academic and professional decisions.
