Specialized Training Workshop on Autism Spectrum Disorder

The Quality and Development Unit at the Islamic University of Minnesota - Main Center - in collaboration with the Minnesota Platform for Education and Development, organized a specialized training workshop entitled "Autism Spectrum Disorder: Insights into Understanding and Therapeutic Practice." The workshop was held as part of the University's ongoing efforts to disseminate specialized knowledge and enhance professional development in the educational, psychological, and healthcare fields.

The workshop was delivered by Dr. Mohammed Al-Qatanani, a specialist in Special Education and faculty member, and was moderated by Dr. Fatima Jumaa Al-Wahsh. The event was attended by a distinguished group of academics, specialists, students, graduates, and individuals interested in related disciplines.

The workshop addressed a range of scientific and practical topics related to Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), including contemporary concepts and emerging perspectives on the disorder, key challenges and needs faced by individuals with ASD and their families, as well as effective educational and therapeutic strategies. It also highlighted professional experiences and best practices that contribute to improving the quality of services provided to individuals with autism.

Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of integrating theoretical knowledge with practical application when working with individuals on the autism spectrum. The workshop underscored the role of such integration in enhancing the competencies of professionals working in special education, rehabilitation, and early intervention, enabling them to provide educational and therapeutic services in accordance with the latest scientific standards and practices.

The workshop targeted a broad audience, including psychologists, social workers, special education teachers, inclusive education practitioners, parents of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, students and graduates of psychology and special education programs, allied healthcare professionals, and those working in rehabilitation and early intervention services.

This workshop forms part of a series of training and professional development programs organized by the Islamic University of Minnesota to build professional capacities, expand practical knowledge, and strengthen the University's role in community service through the dissemination of scientific awareness and the provision of specialized expertise in educational and humanitarian fields with significant social impact.
