Director of Educational Affairs Unit: Supporting Students from Enrollment to the End of the Semester

The Director of the Educational Affairs Unit within the Deanship of Student Affairs at the Islamic University of Minnesota - Main Center, Dr. Jumanah Al-Khurashi, affirmed that the Unit plays a central role in supporting students throughout their academic journey, from the moment they enroll at the University until the completion of each academic semester. This support is delivered through an integrated system of academic and administrative services designed to foster a supportive learning environment, facilitate students’ academic progress, and enhance their opportunities for success and excellence.

Dr. Al-Khurashi made these remarks during her address at the University's Welcome Ceremony for students and the reception of faculty members, held to mark the beginning of the first semester of the 2026/2027 academic year. The event was attended by the University's leadership, faculty and administrative staff, and a large gathering of students.

She explained that the Educational Affairs Unit serves as the primary link between students and the University, overseeing a wide range of academic and organizational responsibilities. These include adding students to their academic groups, communicating class schedules and lecture times, publishing course materials, introducing faculty members and support teams, and monitoring the smooth delivery of online classes through Zoom while ensuring the technical readiness and quality of the virtual learning environment.

Dr. Al-Khurashi added that the Unit also provides students with recorded video and audio lectures, prepares attendance reports, publishes coursework and assignment deadlines, supervises examination procedures, and offers academic guidance and instructions. These services help create a well-organized and stable learning environment that enables students to focus on their studies and achieve academic excellence.

She further noted that the Educational Affairs Unit includes a distinguished team of student volunteers who balance their academic responsibilities with serving their fellow students. Their participation provides valuable administrative and practical experience, complemented by specialized training and professional development opportunities that promote institutional values, teamwork, and leadership within the University community.

Dr. Al-Khurashi also announced that applications are now open for students interested in joining the Educational Affairs Unit, emphasizing that the University welcomes those who wish to contribute to supporting the educational process, serving their peers, and gaining meaningful professional and administrative experience alongside their academic studies.

In closing, she reaffirmed that the Educational Affairs Unit, including its coordinators, deputies, and assistants, will continue to provide guidance, answer students' inquiries, and help address any challenges they may encounter throughout their academic journey.
