Graduate Studies Deanship Approves Unified Grading Scale for Scientific Discussions

The Deanship of Graduate Studies at the Islamic University of Minnesota - Main Center has issued an official circular dated May 2, 2026, approving a unified grading scale for marks awarded to students during scientific discussions. The decision comes as part of the University’s efforts to regulate academic evaluation procedures and standardize grading criteria in graduate studies and scientific research programs.

The circular was addressed to college deans, department heads, faculty members, and graduate students, outlining the details of the newly approved grading scale for scientific discussions. According to the new system, grades ranging from 71 to 80 will receive a "Good" classification, grades from 81 to 90 will be classified as "Very Good," grades from 91 to 96 will receive an "Excellent" classification, while grades from 97 to 99 will be awarded “Excellent with Honors.”

The Deanship confirmed that the new grading scale came into effect from the date of issuance of the circular and called upon all colleges and academic departments to adhere to and implement it in all upcoming scientific discussions.

This measure forms part of the University’s ongoing efforts to develop its academic evaluation system and strengthen standards of quality and transparency in scientific discussion procedures, thereby contributing to the enhancement of research performance and ensuring fairness in the assessment of graduate studies outcomes.
