Academic Seminar Discusses Effectiveness of Islamic Finance Instruments

The Deanship of Graduate Studies at the Islamic University of Minnesota - Main Center - organized an academic seminar session, represented by the College of Economics and Business Administration and the Department of Business Administration, to discuss the research proposal submitted by researcher Jame' Yousuf, as part of the requirements for the PhD program. The proposal was titled: "Murabaha (cost-plus financing) and Musharakah (partnership-based financing) as Instruments of Islamic Finance: A Comparative Study of Effectiveness and Economic Impact."

The session witnessed notable academic attendance from faculty members and researchers. The proposal addressed a vital topic in the field of Islamic finance by conducting a comparative analysis between Murabaha and Musharakah, examining their effectiveness and economic implications within contemporary banking environments.

The seminar discussion committee consisted of a distinguished group of specialized professors, chaired by Dr. Manal Mohammed Mahmoud, Head of the Department of Business Administration, and included Dr. Marwan Al-Abbas, Dr. Kamal Hamed, and Dr. Mohammed Khaled Abu Qasem. The committee provided valuable academic insights and methodological guidance aimed at refining and strengthening the research proposal.

The session was held on the evening of Monday, April 27, 2026, via Zoom, and featured active and productive engagement from participants, reflecting the importance of the topic and the growing interest in Islamic finance and its modern applications.

This seminar comes as part of the Deanship’s ongoing efforts to support researchers, enhance the quality of academic research, and promote specialized studies that contribute to addressing contemporary economic issues from an Islamic perspective.
