PhD Proposal on Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Media Ethics

The Deanship of Graduate Studies at the main center of the Islamic University of Minnesota, represented by the Department of Digital Media at the College of Media, held a scientific seminar to discuss the research proposal submitted by researcher Musawi Mohammed Al-Qaisi, in partial fulfillment of the requirements for a PhD degree. The proposal was titled: "The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Ethical Standards in Saudi Media - A Field Study."

At the outset of the session, the researcher presented a comprehensive overview of the study’s methodology and objectives, highlighting contemporary technological transformations and their profound impact on the media landscape in Saudi Arabia. The presentation also addressed the extent to which media institutions adhere to ethical standards amid the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence technologies.

The seminar, held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, via videoconferencing, was attended by a distinguished group of academic specialists. The discussion committee was chaired by Prof. Hanan Sobhi Obaid, Head of the Graduate Studies Department at the College, and included Prof. Abdulsalam Al-Wahati as academic supervisor, Dr. Yasin Bashir, and Dr. Nermin Saeed Hamed.

The committee members enriched the session with precise academic observations and methodological guidance aimed at enhancing the quality of the research and ensuring robust academic outcomes, in line with the university’s aspirations to contribute rigorous studies addressing contemporary issues in the digital media landscape.

This seminar reflects the Deanship’s ongoing commitment to advancing scientific research and improving its outputs in ways that serve society and keep pace with rapid developments in media and technology.
