Department Head’s Speech
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, his companions, and all those who follow their path until the Day of Judgment.
To proceed:
Among the greatest blessings that Allah, the Exalted, has bestowed upon the Ummah of our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is the honor of preserving His divine revelation—the Noble Qur’an. Through it, He brought humanity out of the darkness of ignorance and vice into the light of knowledge, guidance, and virtue.
Allah, the Almighty, says:
"The Most Merciful. Taught the Qur’an. Created man. Taught him eloquence." (Qur’an 55:1–4)
The Noble Qur’an was brought down by Jibril (Gabriel), the trustworthy bearer of revelation from heaven, to Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), the trustworthy bearer of revelation on earth. Without the Qur’an, our Ummah and its scholarly legacy would not have endured through the centuries. Indeed, the Qur’an is the foundation and source of all knowledge.
It is therefore a great honor and blessing that Allah has granted us the opportunity to serve His Noble Book through the leadership of the Department of the Holy Qur’an at this blessed university. It is only fitting that a department bearing the honored name of the Holy Qur’an should exist within the College of Islamic Studies. Since its establishment, the department has welcomed graduate students and has served as the cornerstone for the founding of the College of Islamic Studies, supported by a distinguished faculty representing various academic ranks and areas of expertise.
In closing, I am honored to express my sincere appreciation and gratitude to the University administration, represented by the Dean of the College of Islamic Studies, the Vice President, the President of the University, and all administrators and staff who have given the Department of the Holy Qur’an their dedicated support. Their continuous efforts in serving the Book of Allah through its learning, teaching, and dissemination are deeply appreciated.
My sincere thanks also extend to my colleagues and faculty members of the Department of the Holy Qur’an for their outstanding dedication and valuable contributions to the advancement of the department.
I pray that Allah, the Almighty, bless these efforts, make us all among the people of the Qur’an—who are the people of Allah and His chosen ones—grant us the intercession of the Qur’an on the Day of Judgment, and accept all that we offer sincerely for His Noble Countenance.
May Allah's peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his companions. All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
