About the Department

The Department of Relief and International Development is one of the distinguished academic departments at the Islamic University of Minnesota. It aims to prepare specialized leaders in humanitarian relief and development work who are capable of managing crises, disasters, and development initiatives with professionalism and competence.
 
The department is founded on the integration of Islamic values, human sciences, and modern field-based practices, contributing to the preparation of a generation of young leaders who are aware of development and community issues and capable of leading relief and development projects across the world.

The Relief and International Development program is an applied, multidisciplinary academic specialization that integrates social sciences, administrative sciences, and humanitarian studies. 
The program emphasizes practical learning through field training, real-world case studies, and applied research projects that prepare students for careers in:

  • United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
