Da'wah Center Organizes Educational Lecture

The Da'wah Center at the Islamic University of Minnesota - United States, in collaboration with the Minnesota Education and Development Platform, organized the fourth lecture in its series of faith-based and educational programs titled "In the Shade of the First Ten Days of Dhul-Hijjah." The lecture, entitled "The Rulings of Eid and Udhiyah (Sacrificial Offering)," brought together a number of participants, students, and interested attendees from both within and outside the university through online platforms.

The lecture was delivered by Dr. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Sumairi, who presented a comprehensive overview of the Islamic rulings related to Eid al-Adha and the ritual of Udhiyah. He explained the concept and legal status of both Eid and the sacrificial offering in Islamic law, while also highlighting the recommended practices and etiquettes of Eid, the manner of performing the Eid prayer and its rulings, as well as the significance of the Eid sermons and the ruling on listening to them.

The speaker also addressed several important jurisprudential issues concerning Udhiyah, including the conditions for a valid sacrifice, the prescribed time and place for slaughtering, the recommended method of distributing the meat, and the practices that are encouraged, discouraged, or prohibited. In addition, he clarified the rulings applicable to those who are unable to offer a sacrifice, presenting the topics within an academic framework aimed at strengthening awareness and promoting a sound understanding of this significant Islamic act of worship.

The session was moderated by Dr. Najima Al-Radwani, Assistant Professor in the Department of Islamic Studies (English Program), who welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of such educational initiatives in promoting authentic Islamic knowledge and strengthening Muslims’ connection with seasons of worship and obedience.
